BTS Iconic Fashion Style Changes Through The Years
Bangtan Sonyeondan, better known as BTS or Beyond The Scene is a rising South Korean boy group. The group consists of seven members – Rap Monster, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook.

BTS has had many styles over the four years they’ve been together. How BTS style changed through the years? Let’s take a look.

No More Dream
In the boys’ debut era, they had a very hip-hop style. In their debut MV, No More Dream, their outfits mostly consist of gold chains, high-top sneakers and lots of black.
We Are Bulletproof pt.2
With this music video, they maintain their hip-hop look but mix it up a bit. Once again, the boys are clad in chains, high-tops, and tons of black, but they also throw in intricate patterns on their shirts and shorts. They even seem to throw in a bit of leather!
N.O
Moving on from their first album, BTS releases O!RUL82? and a music video showcasing their song, N.O. Their style isn’t as hip-hop as the previous MVs, but it still lingers as they are still clad in their beloved gold chains and high-tops, but this time, it’s mostly white instead of black.
Boy In Luv
For their 3rd mini album, Skool Luv Affair, it’s out with hip-hop and in with rebellious school boys. BTS outfits for this video are much more formal. Basically, they are wearing school uniforms consisting of dress shirts, dress pants, and they are even wearing ties.

Just One Day
Keeping with their school boy look, BTS is dressed again in dress shirts and pants while substituting their suit jackets for cozy white sweaters. For this music video, they have a much softer and romantic look compared to any of their former styles.
Danger
While releasing their next album, Dark and Wild, BTS releases two new music videos, the first being Danger. With this new album, they slightly veer back to their hip-hop look, but not by much. They are now clad in leather while also wearing lots of denim. With their leather jackets and ripped jeans, they once again give off a rebellious vibe.
War Of Hormone
Their 2nd music video representing Dark and Wild is War of Hormone, and it is only a slight change from Danger. They almost have a grunge style, and it could have even been considered formal – had it not been for the ripped tattered shirts and sewn-on plaid patches on their pants.
I Need U
BTS ventures off to a whole new look for their next album. Their style for I Need U is not very colourful – quite depressing, actually, but it corresponds well with the MV, seeing as it is a sad song. With the seven boys all dressed in dull greens and blues, their outfits present a not-so-lively aura.
Dope
As if their fashion didn’t change enough with I Need U, BTS brings yet another new look to the table with their Iconic music video Dope. For this MV, they are all dressed to represent different occupations. Rap Monster is a bellhop, Jin is a doctor, Suga is a Naval Officer, J-Hope is a race-car driver, Jimin is an office worker, V is a detective, and golden maknae Jungkook is sporting a police officer’s uniform. Needles to say, this MV has moved any girl’s fantasies.
Run
In the midst of releasing The Most Beautiful Moment In Life pt.2, they released their music video, Run. The boys’ outfits for this video are almost similar to their I Need U fashion except these outfits are more colourful and upbeat. The style for Run is soft yet bold, having the perfect mix of denim, leather, and sweaters.
Young Forever
Finishing up The Most Beautiful Moment In Life trilogy, BTS releases Young Forever. Unlike the majority of their previous MVs, Young Forever gives off a more grown-up and almost sad vibe. They are all dressed very formally, clad in dress pants and button ups.

Save Me
Save Me as well gives off an unhappy vibe as their style contains mostly shades of black and grey. Just like I Need U, their bland-coloured outfits correspond with the sad tone of the song. Since the MV for this song was filmed in one shot, they don’t get to change their outfits.
Fire
Unlike other songs, Fire is much more upbeat and fierce – and so are their outfits! Sticking with their ripped skinny jeans, they combine them with white t-shirts (excluding Jin, who is clad in all black). Keeping it stylish, the boys throw jackets on overtop, or in Suga’s case, another shirt. Jungkook is even wearing a sweater yet still manages to make it bright and fashionable!
Blood, Sweat and Tears
Completely disregarding all of their other styles, BTS‘ look for this mv is very mature. All of them are looking extremely classy in dress shirts and pants with fashionable suit jackets over top, giving a very sophisticated and very sexy final look.
Spring Day
With the release of their newest album, You Never Walk Alone, they also release two more music videos. Their style for Spring Day is very soft and adorable, consisting of mostly pastel colours. Clad in beanies and pastel sweaters, BTS maintain a very cute style for this video.
Not Today
Finally, for their most recent music video say goodbye to the soft pastel look and say hello to the rebellious style. As they are back at it again with their beloved leather and bandanas, BTS showcases a whole new look. While it’s still a grown-up look, the boys have an almost abstract style, dressed in leather pants and puffy jackets. Unsurprisingly, with the perfect balance of bright and dark colours, they continue to look as stylish as ever.
In conclusion, throughout the years, BTS has sported many styles, every era differing from the former. It was very interesting to watch how BTS style changed through the years, becoming more mature and sophisticated compared to their early edgy hip-hop days.
Even though each of the many eras are different, never do the boys look unfashionable. So, this leaves the question we all want answers to:
