Mnet Announced Samuel NUEST Dongho and Jonghyun As Produce 101 Finalists By Mistake

Recently, Mnet wrapped up the voting for the show Produce 101 with a final episode. As the results came out and Produce 101 finalists have been revealed, Mnet accidentally leaked an image which suggested that Kim Samuel, Nu’est Kang Dongho and Kim Jonghyun were supposed to be among the 11 finalists.

However, Samuel was ranked 18th, Kang Dongho was ranked 13th and Kim Jonghyun came in 14th place after the final voting.

After this mistake, made by Mnet staff, #NUEST and #Samuel trended worldwide on Twitter.

Netizens were outraged, that Mnet announced Samuel NUEST Dongho and Jonghyun as Produce 101 finalists by mistake and took to Twitter to express their disappointment about the situation.

Some netizens claimed the show is not fair:

“#PRODUCE101FINAL The replaced members are Dongho, Samuel and Jonghyun. MNET JUST MAKES SAMUEL AND NUEST A TOYS. This event is not fair!!!”

Some joked, that Mnet has “pulled a Steve Harvey”:

“Jonghyun 정현, Samuel 사무엘, & Dongho 동호 was ROBBED. R-O-B-B-E-D. I’m waiting for MNet to pull a Steve Harvey right now.”

Some are asking Mnet to apologize to the said contestants:

“MNet needs to publicly apologize to Jonghyun, Dongho, Samuel, Jisung, Jaehwan and Seongwoon for posting the so called “SAMPLE PHOTO”.”

Later on Mnet has made a statement, that this was simply a mistake made by Produce 101 Facebook staff. They posted another image with the correct list of finalists and apologized for their mistake in the comment section under the image with the real finalists.

They accidentally posted a sample image with 11 expected finalists instead of the actual finalists.
Produce 101 Facebook page hosts quickly deleted the wrong image and apologized for the confusion

“Hello, this is Produce 101 Facebook page admin. We apologize for confusion caused by the wrong image posted on June 17, 3:20 AM This was a sample image and we corrected our mistake on the spot. In the future, we will improve our page managing. Again, we apologize for this experience.”
