Gugudan 5959 sub-unit release debut digital single Ice Chu
On August 10th 2017, Gugudan 5959 (Gugudan OGUOGU or 구구단 오구오구) debuted with their first digital single titled Ice Chu.
It is a sub-unit of Korean girl group under Jellyfish Entertainment that consists of two members – Mina and Hyeyeon.
This debut is showing more of a cute vibe. They used vibrant colours with mostly ice cream props, which matched the summer theme. Hyeyeon dyed her hair orange for this sub-unit debut.

Gugudan 5959 Ice Chu Music Video Review
The MV was filled with bright colours and colourful summer props.
First of all, the opening for the MV is vibrant with one special effect being used – multiple scoops of ice cream floating around space.
While, Mina and Hyeyeon are seen trying to steal ice creams and causing mayhem, this brings a fun vibe to the MV.
Furthermore, Gugudan 5959 is seen placed in a jail cell, meanwhile the policeman has an ice cream for a head, which matches the MV theme.
Gugudan 5959 are playing around with machines inside an ice lolly factory and one special effect was used – everything turns to ice including Mina and Hyeyeon.
Later on, Mina and Hyeyeon are wearing dress attires and the choreography is fun and matches the beat of the single.
Meanwhile, the song is upbeat and has a rap verse by Mina, which makes it quite catchy.
Finally, the lyrics represents a girl tempting a guy into falling in love by highlighting all her features.
Previously, their agency Jellyfish Entertainment posted two teasers for Gugudan 5959’s debut. Firstly, teaser one had a causal theme with Mina and Hyeyeon wearing red two-piece attires.

Gugudan 5959 debut stage on Mnet M Countdown
Recently, on the latest episode of M Countdown , Gugudan 5959 had their debut stage. They performed Ice Chu.

In addition, Gugudan announced their first fan meeting, which sold out within one minute. They will be performing Could this be Love and Hate you. Gugudan’s first official fan meeting will take place on September 9th.
Lastly, within a few hours of release Gugudan 5959 peaked at #38 on the Bugs chart for Ice Chu.
